HOW THIS TRIP FEELS
Revatalised · Connection
Feel revitalised as you arrive across Jianhu Lake to a hotel built like an art museum, then feel connected as you seal your own jar of yellow wine and cast a net beside a local fisherman. This is Shaoxing at the pace of its own water towns, not a checklist of sights.

Jenna Knapp (Canada)
“China Good Tour made our trip to Shaoxing so fun! It was such a smooth process and they planned everything out perfectly even when we had to pivot due to rain. I highly recommend them if you’re looking for a tour guide in china.”

Shawn Macaulay (South Africa)
I had an amazing weekend with China Good Tour in Shaoxing and can’t recommend it enough. Every activity felt meaningful and genuinely connected to the local culture. The hotel we stayed in was beautiful and full of history, with architecture dating back to the Ming Dynasty. The whole experience felt authentic, well‑organized, and full of small details that made it special.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Lakeside Retreat
Afternoon
Arrive at the designated pier, where a boat carries you across Jianhu Lake to the hotel, weather permitting, between 08:30 and 17:00. After checking in, settle into your room with a first-day mini-bar and seasonal welcome fruits.
The hotel itself resembles a large-scale art museum, with over 800 art pieces displayed in the public areas, ranging from crinoid fossils to Dongyang wood carvings and bodiless lacquerware. In the backyard, the "Shi Baoling Shoushan Stone Carving Art Museum" houses more than 300 rare stone sculptures. Additionally, the hotel boasts over 300 precious black pine bonsai trees, perfectly integrated with the scenery of Jianhu Lake. The hotel cost approximately 600 million RMB to build (about 83 million USD).

Day 2: Yellow Wine Origins
Morning
Board a boat from the hotel pier for a scenic 40-minute journey across Jianhu Lake to a 300-year-old yellow wine workshop, dating back to the Qing Dynasty. Watch each stage of the traditional brewing process, taste Huangjiu at different points of fermentation, and complete a private wine-sealing ceremony, sealing your own jar to take home. You will also receive a Huangjiu souvenir to mark the visit.

Afternoon
Return to the hotel for an afternoon shaped around its own cultural offerings: dress in New-Chinese or Hanfu attire for photographs, explore the Shi Baoling Shoushan Stone Carving Art Museum in the hotel's backyard, home to more than 300 rare stone sculptures, or join a guided tour of the property's wider antique collection.

Day 3: Life of a Water Town
Early Morning
Join a local boatman for traditional net casting on the lake, learning about generations of families who have built their lives along these waters.
Winter Substitution (November to March): Due to seasonal fishing restrictions, this activity is replaced with a visit to Lu Xun's Former Residence, Hundred Grass Garden and Sanwei Study, including a rickshaw ride and a boat ride through the old town.

Net fishing with locals
Note: Due to seasonal constraints on fishing, the Water Town Deep Experience (Fishing) will be automatically substituted with the Travel to Shaoxing with the Textbook tour (visiting Lu Xun's Former Residence, Hundred Grass Garden, Sanwei Study, rickshaw, and boat ride).
Morning
Continue to Shaoxing's early morning market, where mist-fresh produce, handmade tofu and warm street snacks reflect daily life in the Jiangnan region. Using a market credit, select ingredients for a lake-to-table lunch, prepared either by the hotel chef or a local family, based entirely on what you choose.
