HOW THIS TRIP FEELS
Revitalised · Transformed
Feel revitalised through guided breathwork, grassland practice, tea and sound sessions. Along the way, the road opens from Shangri-La’s streets to wetlands, mountain slopes and grazing yaks, horses and sheep, leaving room for a quieter kind of attention.

It was a life-changing experience. I had started planning my trip on my own as I usually do, but soon realized that planning a trip to China is a much different thing and too difficult to plan myself. CGT took care of all my concerns, taking all of our wants and needs into consideration to taylor our trip to our ablility and interests. I absolutely would insist to any friends and family that they go to China with China Good Tour on thier next trip!

Our Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative tour was fantastic. The China Good Tour team is highly professional, organized and dedicated. Very knowledgeable and showed great passion, attention to detail, and enthusiasm throughout an intense and enjoyable tour of almost two weeks!
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Arrival, Opening Circle and Shangri-La Old Town
Arrive in Shangri-La, where your driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your retreat accommodation. The first afternoon is intentionally light, giving you time to settle in at approximately 3,300 metres before the main activities begin.

In the evening, share a Tibetan welcome dinner and join an opening orientation with your retreat guide. This is a practical introduction to the next four days, including the retreat rhythm, altitude considerations and the balance between structured sessions and personal time.
Later, take a gentle walk through Shangri-La Old Town. Visit the Giant Buddha Temple and turn the prayer wheel with guidance on local etiquette and respectful participation.

Day 2: Breathwork, Napahai Prairie and Singing Bowls
Begin the morning with an introduction to the Three Channels and Seven Chakras framework, followed by a guided Life Yoga Breathwork session. The focus is on breathing, gentle movement and body awareness, rather than difficult yoga poses or fitness training.
After lunch, travel out to Napahai Prairie for Tibetan Emotional Yoga. The drive is part of the transition: as Shangri-La’s streets recede, the road opens onto grasslands, wetlands and mountain slopes. Depending on the season and local grazing patterns, you may see yaks, horses or sheep spread across the fields.
Once you arrive, take part in a gentle outdoor practice shaped around the open landscape. The session is designed to help you slow down, notice your breath and adjust gradually to the altitude.

Before dinner, return to Shangri-La Old Town for free time. You may choose to walk, browse local shops, rest at the hotel or simply pause with a tea.
In the evening, join a guided singing-bowl session. This is presented as a quiet listening and rest practice, using sustained sound to close the day after time on the grassland.

Day 3: Meditation, Thangka Painting and Tibetan Incense
Begin with Tibetan meditation, followed by a Zen tea meditation session. The morning allows more stillness after the previous day’s outdoor activity, using tea preparation and quiet attention as part of the practice.
After lunch, keep time open for rest, journaling or independent exploration. This unstructured interval is intentional. It allows guests to absorb the retreat at their own pace instead of moving directly from one scheduled workshop to another.

Later, join a hands-on Thangka painting workshop with local practitioners. Learn about the materials, pigments and visual traditions behind the art, then try a small part of the process yourself.
In the evening, take part in a Tibetan incense-making workshop, followed by a short meditation session. Focus on the ingredients, fragrance and craft process, while learning how incense is used in local religious and household settings.

Day 4: Songzanlin Monastery and Closing Circle
On the final morning, visit Songzanlin Monastery, one of Shangri-La’s most significant Tibetan Buddhist sites. Walk through the monastery with your guide and learn about its setting, architecture and role in the local religious landscape.
After lunch, gather for a closing circle. This is a chance to share reflections, revisit the practices introduced during the retreat and prepare for onward travel. Guests are invited to participate, but there is no expectation to frame the experience in a particular way.
Your driver will then transfer you to Shangri-La Airport or your designated departure point.
