HOW THIS DAY FEELS
Connection · Revitalised
Feel connected as you watch pandas in the morning, then step into People’s Park, where Chengdu’s Matchmaking Corner reveals a side of local life most visitors never see. By evening, a face-changing performance and a walk through Kuanzhai Alley bring the day to an unhurried close.

“CGT takes good care of all of us during the trip. I liked everything, and Shanghai was the most impressive. I didn’t know China is like this before I really came!”

Our Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative tour was fantastic. The CGT team is highly professional, organized and dedicated. Very knowledgeable and showed great passion, attention to detail, and enthusiasm throughout an intense and enjoyable tour of almost two weeks!
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Chengdu Panda Research Base
Your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel before heading to the Chengdu Panda Research Base, one of the best places to observe giant pandas in a protected environment. Walk through bamboo forests as you watch adult pandas and, depending on the season, panda cubs going about their day.

Day 2: Massage and Lunch
After the panda visit, unwind with a 90-minute Golden Impression massage, a traditional Chinese massage style popular among Chengdu locals for relieving fatigue.

This traditional Chinese massage technique, cherished by locals, helps to relieve stress and rejuvenate the body. While the massage continues, a movie plays on a large screen in front of you, and you can order lunch directly from the venue's menu, deciding what and how much to eat at your own pace. This combination of massage, film and food is a distinctly local way to spend an afternoon in Chengdu, quite different from a typical restaurant lunch.

Note: The lunch provided by the massage venue.
Day 3: People's Park and the Matchmaking Corner
Afterward, continue to People's Park, a window into everyday Chengdu life. Visit the Matchmaking Corner, where local parents gather to exchange information about their unmarried children, posting details on paper notices or umbrellas along the park paths. It is a long-standing local practice that offers a different view of family life and generational expectations in the city.
Day 4: Teahouse, Face-Changing Performance and Kuanzhai Alley
Settle into a traditional teahouse, where tea is included along with a Bian Lian face-changing performance, one of Sichuan's most recognizable theatrical art forms. Performers switch masks in rapid, almost invisible movements, a tradition passed down through generations of Sichuan opera.
End the day with a walk through Kuanzhai Alley, a historic neighborhood of restored courtyards, boutiques and local eateries. After the structured stops earlier in the day, this final stretch is left unhurried, giving you time to browse shops or simply sit with a final cup of tea before returning to your hotel.
