Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding
Your guide will meet you at your hotel in Chengdu and accompany you to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Morning is generally the most active time to visit, as pandas tend to feed, climb and move around more before the day warms up.
Spend up to three hours exploring the base, home to more than 170 pandas across different age groups. Walk between naturalistic enclosures, observe pandas feeding on bamboo, and stop at viewing areas where your guide can explain the center's breeding and conservation programs.
Day 2: Flexible Sichuan Lunch En Route to Leshan
Stop for lunch at a local restaurant on the way to Leshan. Your guide can recommend Sichuan dishes based on your preferences, from milder options to spicier local specialties, while you order and pay directly at the restaurant.
Note: This lunch stop is not included in the tour price, giving you the flexibility to choose a meal that suits your appetite before the afternoon's sightseeing at Leshan.
Day 3: Leshan Giant Buddha
After lunch, continue to Leshan City by private vehicle.
Walk with your guide through the Leshan scenic area toward the Leshan Giant Buddha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest stone Buddha statue in the world, standing approximately 71 meters high. Carved into the riverside cliff during the Tang Dynasty, the statue has overlooked the confluence of three rivers for more than a thousand years.
See the Buddha from different viewpoints along the cliffside paths, and take time to notice the scale of the carving compared with the boats and buildings along the riverbank below.
Note: An optional boat ride offering a river view of the Buddha is available at an additional cost and is not included in the tour price.
