Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Meet at the Studio
Begin at the Datong Hanfu studio, where your photoshoot experience takes shape from the first costume choice.
The Standard Package includes the same core styling and photography services, but does not include translation support.
Day 2: Hanfu, Makeup and Hairstyling
Choose from an array of authentic Chinese outfits, including flowing Hanfu and regal Imperial Robes. Our team will assist with hair and makeup to complete your transformation.
- Hanfu: Experience the grace of ancient Chinese scholars and ladies with these flowing robes, rich in historical significance and intricate embroidery.
-Flying Apsaras (Feitian): Transform into a celestial being from the Buddhist grottoes, inspired by the iconic murals of Dunhuang and Yungang. Adorned with flowing ribbons, barefoot elegance, and ornate jewelry, this ethereal look captures the grace, music, and dance of heavenly maidens soaring above the clouds.
The team then completes your makeup and hairstyle, including hairpieces and accessories. You may also select available props such as a folding fan, flute, oil-paper umbrella, book, or armour, depending on the visual direction you prefer.
Note: We highly recommend the Flying Apsaras (Feitian) style for photoshoots in Datong—it pairs beautifully with the city's architecture.
Day 3: Huayan Temple in Datong Ancient City
Once styling is complete, continue to Huayan Temple for the outdoor photo session. Its timber architecture, temple courtyards, rooflines, and layered doorways give the shoot a location-specific Datong setting rather than a generic historical backdrop.
Your photographer guides the session and helps you use the costume naturally: walking through the courtyard, turning with the ribbons, holding a prop, or pausing beside architectural details. The aim is to create a set of images with movement and place, rather than a sequence of identical posed portraits.Visit the Datong Ancient City like Huayan Temple.
Day 4: Images to Take Home
Return to the studio and receive your photos. End the experience with high-quality, professionally raw and edited photos, as a timeless memento of your experience.

Why Add English-Speaking Companion Service?
This service is more than translation. They can help you understand the available Hanfu styles, communicate your preferred look to the studio team, coordinate timing during the session and make sure you feel comfortable throughout the experience. We strongly recommend this service. Please note that the companion’s service ends after escorting you back to the studio. They do not remain during makeup removal.
Day 6:
Group discounts may be available for bookings of 4 or more guests. Please contact us at our trip planning form with your preferred date, group size, chosen photoshoot location and whether you would like English-speaking companion service. We will confirm studio availability and provide a tailored group quotation.
